Drôldadon is the continuation of Les Bonimenteurs du Québec (The Barkers of Québec) born in the travelling show universe between Namur, in Belgium, and Montreal. It restored the ancient art of fairground barking and asserted the salutary powers of imagination. For 16 years, fairground artists have paced up the streets of numerous festivals and events of all sorts in Montréal and the regions.
Theatre based on humour and complicity, Drôldadon has created the PEP (Prestations dans l’Espace Public) (Public space performances). The company hinges its writing, performances and stage designs, that are powered by clown and festive creativity, upon this space of freedom and proximity, Drôldadon gives life to its values and its unusual imagination performing for all, and with all. Would it be either with fixed, or strolling shows or even animations, their performances happen on all possible or improbable venues, during summer as well as winter.
Many opportunities have occurred, as years got by, notably with Les Baladins du miroir (The Mirror Wanderers) from Belgium, La Saine Folie (The Sane Madness), Toxique Trottoir (Toxic Sidewalk), and Secroursrire (Laughassistance), humanitarian intervention through live arts in Haiti, in 2011. Followed by La Bonne Aventure (The Good Fortune) by Cirque Ekasringa, in 2016, at Baie St-Paul. And, in 2017, the Wanabashow, a circus-theatre show for the 375th Anniversary of Montréal, as well as Les Amuse Bouches (The Nibblers) with Toxique Trottoir.
